Chrislam - June 23, 2011

A few hours ago I came across news that, truth be told, considering the way things have been moving, I can't really say that it's terribly surprising or not. Apparently, this Sunday, June 26th, 50 churches in 26 states will be removing their crosses and sitting the Quar'an next to their Bibles on the pulpit, as they settle into what is being termed Chrislam, which is basically the merging of Christianity with Islam.

Some of you may be familiar with Jack Van Impe's ministry. Apparently, this whole thing has caused a break between them and TBN, which they've appeared on for some years now. They'd done a show on this subject, and they spoke out against Chrislam and against the celebrity pastors who have been really endorsing this and pushing for it. And, apparently the network refused to air the show, and it caused a break between the two. I found the video which someone had posted, and there's some really important information that I hadn't been aware of.

Because of this development of Chrislam, there have been a number of missionaries that have gone into Islamic nations, and the Bible's they'd been using, they have the verses that refer to Jesus as being the Son of God altered or removed, apparently 91 verses, so as to not cause offense. Jack Van Impe also says in his broadcast that this merging includes the removal of hymns from their services, and also plans to remove their prayer meetings. These two things alone are scary enough for the condtion of the Church because if you really look at what this means, removing the hymns, which is worship, and removing prayer services... well, that's clear cut enough. But, there is so much power in prayer and worship. Those who haven't experienced it, it's kind of hard to describe it. Even for those of us who have, I believe there's so much more that goes on in the spirit that we don't even know, with just these two things alone. They are stripping the power from these churches by removing the prayer and worship.

Not just these things, but they're also talking about potentially removing the pulpit, and even the crosses. All of the crosses from the inside and outside of the buildings they're talking about taking down. So, if removing prayer and worship removes the power from these churches, then removing the cross takes away their life, because without the cross there is no true life. Especially in churches... A church without a cross? There is no life in that church.

There's also talk of them changing their names, which I suppose seems rather appropriate with all of the other changes, because they are no longer churches in the sense that we'd ordinarily think of a church, and what a church is supposed to be. They are no longer churches of God, churches of Jesus Christ, especially when they are merging themselves with this entirely different religion to attempt to appease everyone. Just think about it. Even going back to the Old Testament, God was constantly warning the children of Israel from bringing in other ways of worship, ways of idols, everything from their neighboring people, because it would corrupt what God was intending for them to do. It would corrupt the true message, the true worship that He intended for His people. So, all of this right here, you can see this kind of echo all the way back throughout basically the beginning of scripture.

I've always been one who is for unity within the church, and to not fight and bicker back and forth with each other over doctrinal matters, but this goes beyond that. This is going with the very core of Christianity. I mean, they're removing crosses. They're removing mention of Christ as the Son of God. And with this they're removing Christ as the only mediator between us and the Father. This isn't simply a doctrinal matter, this is a salvation issue. And as such, I cannot simply say, let's just agree to disagree. The resurrected Christ is the very core of true Christianity, and without this, Christianity is nothing.

There are those who feel the need to water down the gospel to make it more comfortable for people, and those of you who've seen my previous messages are aware of my thoughts on the whole comfort issue. I believe God moves the most through us when we're willing to step outside of our comfort zones. But even beyond that, the need to sugarcoat the gospel, and alter it in order to get more people to accept it, the watering down and changing of this and that... The problem here is that the gospel that they give to people is no longer the gospel. It's a false gospel they're feeding people and it will not satisfy. It leads people away from Christ rather than towards Him. What we need to do is present the full gospel, just as it is, and then allow the Spirit to do His job. He's the One who draws people in to Christ, it's simply our job to get the message out there, and leave the rest to the Spirit. God doesn't need us playing P.R. with a mere shadow of His word. That gospel is worthless, it holds no power and it holds no life. We need to put the truth out there and trust God when He tells us that His word does not return void.

10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

~ Isaiah 55:10-11 (KJV)
