When They Try To Remove The Word || December 27, 2010

There's a lot of craziness going on in the world. Despite what the news reports will say sometimes, there doesn't seem to be any current indication of things improving. On the contrary, all signs seem to point towards a decline in the world's conditions. Encompassing everything from the economy to crazy weather, earthquakes, catastrophic oil spills, and turmoil among the nations.

You may be noticing that there are a lot of videos out there encouraging people to store up food and water, warnings that something is just around the corner, and you want to make sure you have available access to plenty of good food and fresh water when it would otherwise be difficult to come by. I do agree that this is something that's very important to think about. But I'd like to add something to this as well.

The Bible. One of these days, perhaps very soon, Bibles will also become very hard to come by. Now people will walk by them, unnoticed, lying around to collect dust. But one of these days, maybe even soon, it'll become apparent just how significant the Bible really is. Allow me to use Jesus' own words to emphasize my point.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ~ Matthew 4:4 (KJV)

13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. ~ John 4:13-14 (KJV)

Food and water nourishes the body, but the word of God will nourish the soul. Be SURE that you have the word of God as well. Even better, having one is good, absolutely, but having more than one is even better when they become scarce. Just like with storing up food and water, it's a good idea to store up Bibles as well. If nothing else, there are dollar stores (such as Dollar Tree), where you can buy a copy of at least the New Testament for just $1. This means that if you were to go there and intend perhaps to spend $10 maybe once every other week, or every time you get a paycheck, dedicate $10 of that paycheck picking up some spare Bibles to put back. If you go to a place like that and do this, you can get 20 New Testament Bibles in just one month's time.

The Gideon's, for instance, stand sometimes across from schools or stores and other places, and they pass out Bibles as well. When you pass by one of the Gideon's, accept one. Unless you have other plans for it, you can add that to your supply as well. This works regardless of your view on when the rapture occurs. If you believe the rapture occurs before the Tribulation, and that the Church itself will be spared, then perhaps you'll have a supply put back for lost loved ones. On the contrary, say that you believe the Church will also have to endure the Tribulation, well then you'll be there yourself to handle these if it happens in your lifetime, how to distribute them, how to go about passing them out or whatever it is you do with them. But either way, we have plenty of access to them now. One of these days that won't be so. Again, just as people are warning us to save back food and water, save back Bibles, too. We may not think so much of it now, but one day we will wish that we had access to them. If say, for some reason we no longer have the family Bibles we once had, or the ones we have are too big to carry with us if we have to go someplace, even just a little pocket Bible is something that is small and easy to carry with you.

If the world continues on the track that it seems to be on today, in addition to your food, water, and any other survival supplies, please include Bibles, as well. One of these days, and maybe if we're lucky we won't have to worry about it for ourselves, but again, going by how crazy things seem to be getting, you never know. One of these days it will be revealed that a Bible's true value is beyond words.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. ~ John 6:63 (KJV)
